Lighthouse/City YMCA Child Care

Summer Day Camp
At the Lighthouse YMCA, we're looking forward to another great summer day camp! We are a licensed childcare center, regulated by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Our summer day camp runs from June 1st to August 13th and is for children ages 5 to 12.* Children are placed in age appropriate groups which help them build strong friendships and confidence.
Summer day camp activities include:
- Swimming - Children will be tested by the lifeguards each week to determine their swimming capability, which will be represented by a colored wrist band. Once a child has passed they will not be required to test again. There will be swimming from 12:00pm to 1:30pm and 1:45pm to 3:00pm Monday through Friday.
- Field Trips - Field trips will be held Tuesday through Friday at a cost of $10 per child. Field trips for 5 and 6 year olds are on Tuesdays, 7's and 8's are Wednesdays, 9's and 10's are Thursdays and 11's and 12's go on Fridays. Space is limited to 26 children per trip, so sign up early! Parents must sign the permission form and pay the fee when they register their child. Registrations for each trip will be available one week in advance. Register your child for the trip specific to their age group. Please make sure that your child wears a YMCA camp shirt on each trip!
- Other Activities include group games, arts & crafts, team building, character development, guest speakers, physical education and weekly themes.
Day camp is $105 per week. All children must be Facility Members or have a current Program Membership. Program Memberships are $20 and are valid for one year. Upon registration, a $15 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required for each week you wish your child to attend ($5 per week for DES). Space is limited, so sign up early!
We are DES certified, and offer financial assistance to those who qualify.
*Child must have turned 5 by December 31, 2009.
Fun Factory After School Enrichment Program
Character development is at the heart of all YMCA programming. We believe and teach four character values in all that we do: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our staff has developed age appropriate activities that are play-orientated. We promote physical, social, emotional and cognitive development to help reinforce a foundation of lifelong learning. Whether it’s building a fort, playing soccer, doing arts and crafts or finishing their homework, a day at Fun Factory offers each child a well-rounded selection of activities.
The Arizona Department of Health Services licenses each of our Fun Factory Sites. Child care staff have background checks done by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, are first aid and CPR certified and receive 12 hours of training yearly.
We offer after school care at two locations: Fruchthendler Elementary and the Lighthouse YMCA branch itself. At Fruchthendler we offer before school care from 6:30am to 8:54am and after school care from 3:14pm to 6:00pm. The Lighthouse Y has before school care from 6:30am to 8:30am and after school care from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Children in the Lighthouse before school program will be transported to their school.
All of our rates are weekly, we do not offer daily or part time care. Payments are due the Friday prior to the child attending on the Monday of each week the child is registered to attend. The child will not be able to attend until payment is made. Payments are considered late after 6:00pm on Monday and a late fee of $10 will be incurred. All children must be Facility Members or have a current Program Membership. Program Memberships are $20 and are valid for one year.
Financial Assistance is available for some families (based on income) through the Department of Economic Security Child Care Division (DES). Thanks to the generous gifts of individuals and companies in our community, we are also able to offer assistance to some families through the YMCA Financial Assistance Program. Assistance is limited by the resources we have available, so we recommend that you apply as early as possible.

Transportation to and from the following schools is provided to our Lighthouse site. It is the parent's responsibility to notify the YMCA no later than 12:30pm if their child is going to be absent and will not be taking the van to attend the afternoon program. There is a $5 charge if we are not notified of a child's absence.
