Pool Schedule (subject to change)

Private Swim Lessons, All Year!
Private swim lessons are one-on-one swim lessons with one of our exceptional swim instructors.  We provide private swim instruction for non-swimmers to advanced swimmers and all skill levels in between.  We teach ages 6 months to adult.   Please note that swimmers 6 months to 36 months must have a parent/guardian over the age of 18 in the water with the child and instructor. Our pool is heated to 86 degrees from November to February.

Facility Members can purchase packages of five 30 minute lessons for $50. Program members pay $60 for five lessons.

YMCA Group Swim Lessons (Seasonal)
Classes are taught by a certified instructor and class size is limited so all children get lots of attention.  Group lessons cost $30 for facility members or $40 for program members for an eight lesson session.  Lessons take place in our outdoor pool which is heated to approximately 84 degrees from March to August. Class will be held Monday to Thursday both weeks for a total of 8 classes (we may have class on Friday of the last week if inclement weather forces us to cancel a previous class).

Parent Child Lessons
Introducing babies and parents to the aquatic environment. Classes are held on Sundays, June 6 to June 27 (No Class on Father’s Day the 20th). Three 45-minute classes cost $ 17.50 for Facility Members and $22.50 for Program Members. Classes for 19 months to 35 months are held from 2:00pm to 2:45pm , and classes for 6 months to 18 months old  are held from 3:00pm to 3:45pm.

*Missed classes may not be rescheduled.

Piranha Swim Team
The Piranha Swim Team is designed to introduce youth swimmers ages 5 to 14 to competitive swimming.  Over the past year the Piranha Swim Team has competed successfully in nine meets in Tucson and Phoenix.  Youth can enroll in Piranha when they complete Fish level swim skills classes.  Tryouts are offered to those children who haven’t taken part in YMCA progressive swimming lessons.  If your child wants a challenge or just wants to try a lifelong fitness sport contact Elyssa Marley at 795-9725 for more information and to schedule a tryout. Joining the swim team requires an $80 initial payment (includes team racing suit) and $25 per month thereafter.

The Piranha Swim Team just finished competition at the Pumpkin Classic at the Tucson Northwest YMCA.  Congratulations to all our swimmers for a great effort and a successful finish!

Lap Swim
Patrons may swim laps, water walk or water jog during lap swim times.  Kick boards, aqua belts, pull buoys, noodles and aqua dumbbells are available to enhance the exercise.

Open Swim
Open swim times are scheduled one or more times every day.  Open swim times are for individuals or families who want to enjoy our outdoor heated pool. Water basketball and volleyball are available during open swim times.  If non swimmers are present, the shallow water may be roped off with the safety lines.  A responsible adult must accompany children under the age of 8 in the pool area.

Train to be a YMCA Lifeguard, YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, or YMCA Water Fitness Instructor!
The Lighthouse/City YMCA offers certification courses for potential Lifeguards, Lifeguard Instructors, and Water Fitness Instructors.  Participants must be at least 16 years of age (parental consent is required for those under age 18) for registration in the YMCA Lifeguard  and YMCA Water Fitness Instructor courses.  The Lifeguard Instructor course requires a minimum age of 18.  Current certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Supplemental Oxygen must be held.  Participants must pass a swimming skills test and medical clearance is recommended.

Pool Safety Council Honor Roll
We are proud to announce that all the YMCA of Southern Arizona has received the Gold Seal of Approval and is on the Honor Roll of the Pool Safety Council. This seal of approval certifies that all pools within the YMCA of Southern Arizona are fully compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, which protects swimmers from entrapment accidents in the pool.
