Lohse Family YMCA Aquatics

The Lohse Family YMCA has a very unique pool. It's an outdoor pool, so you get to enjoy the fresh air. However, it is also completely covered and walled off, so you are protected from the elements. We also keep it heated so you can enjoy it all year. The pool is 25 yards long, 6' at the deep end and 3' 6" on the shallow side. It features 6 standard size lanes with Keifer lane lines. The pool is handicap accessible. There is a large amount of water fitness equipment available for your use as well.

Group Swim Lessons

The Lohse YMCA provides instructional swimming programs for all ages, ability levels and interests. These programs lay the foundation for a lifetime of safe and healthy activities in any aquatic environment.

Children 3-5 years of age may take a Pike, Eel, Ray or Starfish class based on the following:

  • Pikes are children that have never had a lesson and are unfamiliar with an aquatic environment.
  • Eels are non-swimmers but are comfortable in the water with supervision.
  • Rays are able to paddle around with little or no assistance but may or may not know the fundamentals of swimming strokes.
  • Starfish can perform a rudimentary crawl stroke with basic breathing techniques and jump into deep water.

Children 6-12 years of age may take a Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow or Fish class based on the following:

  • Polliwogs are children who are non-swimmers and unfamiliar with an aquatic surrounding.
  • Guppies are comfortable in the water, but would like to learn the fundamentals of the basic strokes skills.
  • Minnows are able to perform rudimentary crawl stroke and are able to dive.

We also offer Parent/Child classes (SKIPs) for ages 6 months to 36 months. A parent must be present and participate in all Parent/Child classes. You can download swim lesson registration forms and schedules for May, June, July and August.

All group swim lessons are sold in packages of 4 half hour lessons. Facility Members pay $30 while Program Members pay $40.

Additionally, we have private swim lessons. We will work with you to find a time for classes that will fit into your schedule. Contact us at 623-5200 for package info and scheduling.
