Northwest YMCA Teen & Family Programs

The Northwest YMCA is proud to offer a variety of exciting programs for youth and teens ages 8 to 18, as well as several programs to enrich your family life. The YMCA Teen and Family Program offers educational, social, leadership and physical activity programs in an effort to promote healthy lifestyles and overall well-being. From Teen Nights and field trips to dodge ball and Gladiator, we've designed our programs to match the interests of teens in the Northwest Tucson community.
Teen Programs - Spring/Summer
Teen Nights
Come out for an evening of fun and excitement in this program designed for teens by teens. Our Monthly Teen Night provides a safe environment for teens in grades 6 through 9. Events wil include a Teen Dance in the gym, Wii Rock Band and DDR, ping pong and foosball. Snacks will be available for purchase at every Teen Night. Cost is $5.

Hip Hop Dance
Youth and teens ages 10 to 18 may participate in our Hip Hop class every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Students get to express themselves through a variety of Hip Hop styles, including urban, street, pop and lock, funk and latin. All classes begin with a short warm-up followed by various techniques and conditioning exercises. Each week the students learn a new dance with new music that they will perform at the end of the session. The class costs $30 for Facility Members and $35 for Program Members. Our current Winter session begins on March 23rd and ends on May 13th.
YLeaders
YLeaders is a program for teenagers who are committed to being a voice for their generation. A YLeader helps to create fun and interactive opportunities for other teens and has a desire to make a difference in their community and the world. This program is free for Facility Members and Program Members in grades 7 through 12.
YLeaders meetings take place every other Tuesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm starting August 11th in the Conference Room.
Summer Leaders in Training
This program is dedicated to building strong leaders. Leaders in Training will participate in volunteer opportunities, team building, group work and career exploration field trips. This is a great chance to make new friends, learn lifelong leadership skills and have fun
!
The participants will assist group leaders with the younger members at the summer day camp program.This program is run throughout the summer consisting of 10 one week sessions. The first week starts on May 24 and the last week ends July 30. The cost is $70 per week (non-members also pay a $20 program membership fee). Weekly Activities - Spring 2010
YMCA Dodgeball Wednesdays
We invite you to come play Dodgeball every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm in our gymnasium. This is free for all members and $3.50 for non-members. Open to youth and teens ages 8 and up.
YMCA Gladiator Fridays
YMCA Gladiator is a game of skill that combines elements of dodgeball, capture-the-flag, and hide-and-seek into one exciting game! Do you have what it takes to be the next YMCA Gladiator? Gladiator is held from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Fridays in the gym. This is free for all members and $3.50 for non-members. Open to youth ages 8-18.
Mother and Daughter Spa Night
This event is for mothers and their daughter’s ages 5 to 17. Tuesday, April 27th from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. Will consist of facials and manicures. Free to facility members of the Northwest YMCA.
