Honoring Our Fighting Men and Women and their families
The YMCA’s 2018 Community Military Ball recognized our longstanding tradition of service to military families and celebrated veterans, active duty, reserve, fallen, and retired servicemen and women from all military branches. For more than 150 years, the Y has had deep ties to our military both in war and in peacetime and it continues to be our honor to provide services to military members and their families here in Southern Arizona. Nearly 900 people – both military and civilian – attended the ball.
This year in addition to the presentation of our 2018 Council of Heroes, we honored local WWII vets, Korean War vets and Holocaust Survivors, who were escorted into the ballroom to a standing ovation.
The Co-Chairs for the 2018 Military Ball were Major General Edward P. Maxwell, USAF (Ret.), Major General John A. Almquist, Jr., USAF (Ret.) and the Keynote Address was delivered by Lieutenant General Robert B. Johnston, USMC (Ret.)
