Fred has nine siblings who all developed type 2 diabetes. Fred thought he was destined to the same fate until he found and joined the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program. Fred attended classes weekly, kept track of his diet, and started working out at the Y three times a week. Fred said, “I learned so much in the program, it gave me a much needed wakeup call! Since I joined the program I have lost over 27 pounds. I work out three times a week and have maintained my weight and eating habits for over a year. I am 75 years old and cannot believe I was able to turn my health around with the help of the Y.”

Since joining the Y’s Diabetes Prevention Program, Fred has been able to reverse his diagnosis of prediabetes!
