Are you patient, reliable, friendly, and great working with kids and keeping them actively engaged while keeping safety in mind? Are you ready to prepare kids to be safe in and around the water as the summer heats up? If so, the Lohse Family YMCA is looking for energetic, self-motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to join the Aquatics department at our downtown location. Qualified Instructor I applicants must be at least 16 years of age with a minimum of 3 months experience. Instructor II applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 1-3 years aquatics experience. Both Instructor I and II candidates must have the ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 lbs., have the visual and auditory ability to respond to emergencies in the aquatics area and must hold current CPR for the professional rescuer and AED/First Aid certifications. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, preparing and implementing lesson plans, promoting water safety through instruction using YMCA swim lesson curriculum, and issuing progress reports to parents and handing out participant certificates at the end of each session. Staff must be flexible, as shifts will vary, staff also must be available to attend and participate in trainings as they occur. All employees will lead by example to teach participants the importance of the YMCA core values: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. A post-offer background screening and drug screening are required.
