Join the sports staff team at the Lighthouse/City YMCA and lead youth ages 3-5 in our Itty Bitty classes. Classes are held during the week in the early afternoon. As an Itty Bitty instructor, you will be introducing kids to basics when it comes to tee ball, soccer, and basketball while reinforcing good sportsmanship and participant safety. As a youth instructor you will be working with youth and parents as you help kids learn how to hold the bat properly to hit off a tee and then run the bases in order, how to bounce a basketball and how to pass or share it with others, and how to kick a soccer ball as we focus on these and other age-appropriate activities in the program. The instructor must demonstrate patience and introduce youth to sports and an active lifestyle in a fun way. Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a sports capacity. The incumbent must have current First Aid/CPR certification and possess the verbal ability to instruct participants using age-appropriate terminology as well as be able to demonstrate how to perform each sports activity. A positive attitude and being an energetic leader will be tremendously important as the instructor builds appropriate relationships with staff, members, and participants. A post offer background screening is required for this position.
