Summer fun time is coming! Join the Lighthouse/City YMCA team and help make a difference in the lives of the children in our summer programs at our location in the Catalina Foothills at Fruchthendler Elementary School. Under the supervision of the Coordinator, the Day Camp Group Leaders shall be responsible for the safety of campers, will assist in the planning and implementation of the camp programs. All employees will lead by example to teach campers the importance of the YMCA core values: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. Qualified applicants for Group Leader I will be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Group Leader II applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent, possess NAC, CDA,CPC, or CCP credentials or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a child related field. Both Group Leader I and II applicants should possess current infant/child CPR/1st Aid certification, have a minimum of 6 months previous childcare experience, have a TB skin test done and will be required to submit fingerprints to AZ DPS within 7 days of hire to obtain a fingerprint clearance card if you do not currently have one. Candidates must also have previous experience teaching children the importance of team work and be able to lead by example to teach campers the importance of the YMCA core values: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.. Prior experience with program planning, design, and implementation in a variety of areas including sports, nature activities, arts and crafts, group games, and songs/music is desirable. A high degree of physical activity is required and the ability to withstand a variety of weather conditions including heat and humidity is imperative.
Candidates must have a flexible schedule, camp runs Monday through Friday, hours will vary based on business needs and there will be required trainings and staff meetings. Summer day camp fun begins for the children on May 28, 2019. The first mandatory training for employees will be held May 18, 2019, remaining trainings to be determined through the months of May and April.
