tri-y, a treasured place of tucson history
Founded in 1949, YMCA Triangle Y Ranch Camp is one of the oldest operating and most popular overnight camps in Arizona… and for good reason! Many of the original buildings are still in use, providing a historic charm amidst the upgraded facilities.
CAMPFIRE AREA and DIRECTOR’S HOUSE: This summer campers will enjoy panoramic mountain views from their seats in the new campfire amphitheater. This space is the perfect stage for skit nights and camp sing-alongs. The custom designed firepit is the perfect spot for making s’mores before bed! The new YMCA director’s house construction continues to progress and we look forward to its completion in spring of 2023. Both of these projects are made possible due to the generosity of the Margaret E. Mooney Foundation.
CLIMBING MESA: Tri-Y’s new climbing tower also provides some of the most stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The design for the new climbing tower includes a new course that provides individuals with disabilities more opportunities to engage in programs. The Challenge Course plan was developed and with $120,000 in support from Fiesta Bowl Charities, Union Pacific Foundation, and YMCA of the USA phase 1 is complete. The first tower constructed is engineered and designed for a variety of activities, which includes more than 10 ascent challenges and more than a dozen low-to-the-ground group initiatives. The tower also includes a zip line and giant swing.
