Securing Tomorrow’s Impact
The YMCA Foundation is the planned giving arm of the YMCA of Southern Arizona. As a
supporting organization, the Foundation’s purpose is to preserve Foundation assets and increase
their value through new gifts and investment growth. Foundation earnings finance the creative
edge of YMCA programs today, while the principal goes forward into tomorrow.
The Foundation works to transform gifts from caring individuals and families into meaningful and
lasting positive change for our community. While we accept gifts of cash, securities and other
assets, much of our endowment fund’s growth is the result of planned gifts. The Y community is
enriched when the Foundation is named as a beneficiary of a donor’s will, insurance policy,
retirement plan or trust.
Income generated by the Foundation’s endowment is poured back into local neighborhoods in the
form of YMCA facilities, programs and services our communities need in order to thrive—both now
and in the future. Over the past four decades, the Foundation has provided funds that have been
used to help nurture the potential of kids, ensure our community’s health and well-being, and
support neighbors in need.
The Foundation has awarded nearly $3.3 million to YMCA branches since its inception.

What is planned giving?
Planned giving is a way to make a lasting impact on the Tucson YMCA through gifts that are arranged now but allocated in the future—often as part of your estate or financial planning.
Why should I consider a planned gift?
A planned gift allows you to support the future of the Tucson YMCA while also potentially receiving tax benefits, fulfilling personal or philanthropic goals, and creating a legacy that reflects your values.
What types of planned gifts can I make?
Common types of planned gifts include:
-
Bequests through a will or trust
-
Beneficiary designations on retirement accounts or life insurance
-
Charitable gift annuities
-
Charitable remainder trusts
-
Gifts of real estate or appreciated assets
Do I need to be wealthy to make a planned gift?
Not at all. Planned giving is for anyone who wants to leave a meaningful legacy. Many planned gifts are simple, such as designating the Tucson YMCA as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account.
Can I support a specific YMCA program or branch?
Yes. You can designate your gift to support the area of the Tucson YMCA that means the most to you—whether that’s youth development, healthy living, or social responsibility.
Is my planned gift confidential?
Yes. All conversations and details about your gift are kept completely confidential and come with no obligation.
Do I need to notify the YMCA if I’ve included them in my plans?
While not required, letting us know about your gift helps us honor your intentions, recognize your generosity, and ensure your legacy is used as you wish.
