Discover Your Y. Discover Your Why.

Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.

Sample Language

For an unrestricted gift that allows the YMCA of Southern Arizona to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:

“I give to the YMCA Foundation of Southern Arizona, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 60 West Alameda Street, Tucson, Arizona 85701, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose. I/we understand that my/our gift will be permanently restricted to the YMCA of Southern Arizona’s endowment fund in which the corpus must be held inviolate and in perpetuity and invested to generate income for the organization.”

Let us Know

If you have named the YMCA of Southern Arizona in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a way to make a lasting impact on the Tucson YMCA through gifts that are arranged now but allocated in the future—often as part of your estate or financial planning.

Why should I consider a planned gift?

A planned gift allows you to support the future of the Tucson YMCA while also potentially receiving tax benefits, fulfilling personal or philanthropic goals, and creating a legacy that reflects your values.

What types of planned gifts can I make?

Common types of planned gifts include:

  • Bequests through a will or trust

  • Beneficiary designations on retirement accounts or life insurance

  • Charitable gift annuities

  • Charitable remainder trusts

  • Gifts of real estate or appreciated assets

Do I need to be wealthy to make a planned gift?

Not at all. Planned giving is for anyone who wants to leave a meaningful legacy. Many planned gifts are simple, such as designating the Tucson YMCA as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement account.

Can I support a specific YMCA program or branch?

Yes. You can designate your gift to support the area of the Tucson YMCA that means the most to you—whether that’s youth development, healthy living, or social responsibility.

Is my planned gift confidential?

Yes. All conversations and details about your gift are kept completely confidential and come with no obligation.

Do I need to notify the YMCA if I’ve included them in my plans?

While not required, letting us know about your gift helps us honor your intentions, recognize your generosity, and ensure your legacy is used as you wish.
